  • The station was known as VT, as its original name used to be Victoria Terminus, now known as CST, the short-form of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus). In 1996, the then Minister of Railways, Suresh Kalmadi, renamed the railway station to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in honor of the Great King Chhatrapati Shivaji who was the founder of the Maratha Empire
