The Mysore Palace is the official residence of the Wadiyar dynasty and the seat of the Kingdom of Mysore in the Indian State of Karnataka. The palace is now converted into a museum open for public, and it treasures paintings, jewelry, royal costumes, souvenirs, and other items, which were once owned by the Wodeyars.

  • Mysore Palace was built for the 24th Ruler of the Wodeyar Dynasty in the year 1912
  • Mysore palace's construction was completed at an exorbitant cost of INR 41,47,913 at the time.
  • The construction of the Mysore Palace was orchestrated by the Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV
  • The Palace has three entrances:
    The East Gate - opened only during the Dasara and for dignitaries which is also the front gate, the South entrance - open for public, West entrance - opened only during the Dasara.
  • Because of its grandeur, the Mysore Palace is often compared with the Buckingham Palace of Britain.
  • You can only take pictures from outside the Palace. The security staff has been given powers to confiscate cameras of violaters to preserve its cultural heritage.
  • The Palace is open for the public from 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM on all days.
  • The entry fees of Mysore palace (subject to change) are Rs. 50.0 per person for adults, 30.0 per person Children between 10 - 18 Years, 50.0 per person for foreign tourists
